The Lifeboat Hour – 09/23/12

Imelda Marcos' shoe rack

  • Reality Check

Those of you who heard a senile, babbling man for the last hour, refresh yourselves with this insightful, in-depth look from the world of objective reality: “A Culture Of Conspiracy” by UC Berkeley Professor Michael Barkun.

    http://www.wnlibrary.com/Portabel%20Documents/A%20Culture%20Of%20Conspiracy%20-%20Michael%20Barkun.pdf

It will help you put all that UFO bullshit and pseudoscience in context.

    • goatstaog

thanks for the link. At least you share something logical :D peace

    • http://twitter.com/YankeeWankaa Yankee Wankaa

Hey,easy with the insults there! You can make your point without being disrespectful.

    • Elmo Putz

If your aim is to equate Mike Ruppert with the Illuminati Came From Outer Space crowd, then your message is well received. However; I have often seen books like this used to dismiss anyone expressing any doubts about any official story as “conspiracy theory”. More than once, I have had it handed to me regarding my thoughts on 9/11. Just thought I’d point that out.

  • http://twitter.com/fuggybootnling fuggybootnling

Oh it’s so sad…remember the glory days when Mike Ruppert’s razor sharp analysis was must-reading/listening? I stumbled upon Truth and Lies by complete accident in 2004 and it literally changed my life, my entire outlook on the world. I owe you Mike everything for that, and will be forever grateful.
But I just can’t go where he’s going now. I used to love this show, but after giving it up for a couple months and giving it one more shot? I think I am done. And I know I’m not the only one.
Oh btw – the Mayans didn’t know about leap years. December 21 on their calendar came and went months ago.

    • goatstaog

You have to understand it was never Mike that was sharp. He was simply the talking head, who, like now just regurgitates steaming shit. Book deals are behind all this fiddle faddle. PRN is compromised. Going somewhere eh PRN? Yeah right into the mainstream trash bin.

    • Elmo Putz

“I stumbled upon Truth and Lies by complete accident in 2004 and it literally changed my life, my entire outlook on the world.”

Same here… That is, until I actually started paying attention to the man, and realized that he couldn’t possibly have gathered all of that information with his credentials (much of which is false, by the way..)

  • goatstaog

I have to agree with Reality Check – MIke Ruppert, since your world is crumbling, DO NOT prescribe that to others. Some are suceptable and you know it. Oh the emotional heartstrings with your dog. The dog has more integrity that’s why it gets the limelite. It’s a real shame Null has given you this spot. He must owe you some dough or something. – You are obviously someone who has crafted such a scheme of control, you cannot fathom other aspects. You cut that first caller off completely with your bs about him attacking you? He was simply trying to SPEAK! Oh you knew where he was going eh? Then you stumble like the cigarette supporting Senile man you truly are trying to skirt away from where he was trying to go. You promote the worst (wil-phallus and Braidin the factoids) and it’s basically disgusting. I don’t support Darwin at all but his collaboration and observation is mostly on point especially comparing to your blanket observations. You bring NO proof just rhetoric and barely rhetoric. You jumped ship from the stupid organization you were involved in just as you felt it was convenient to pull out so you don’t have to be around because it’s being chipped away at by intelligent humans. Goddamn you man. When is your lifeboat finally going to float right out of sight from humanity. RIP . I’ve been holding off a few months for the flame, and well you just pushed too far with your crap. yeah you never sold out eh – why do we see you on those fraudulent documentaries ? Did you get a rub and tug out of the deal? You are now despised. The guy did NOT take you from the theme, you went on a tangent to try to deflect and then got caught with your little shriveled phallus out screwing that half horse/half donkey. MULE .

  • goatstaog

HAVE SOME FUN- ADD YOUR OWN MAD MAGAZINE STYLE FUNNY TRUTH CAPTION
WITH MIKES OWN QUOTES FROM THE ARCHIVES. ENDLESS FUN.

    http://memegenerator.net/Micha

  • TonyW

I have to agree with the first caller (I didn’t listen to much more than that). Mike’s take on Darwin is ludicrous and is not backed by science at all. I’ll probably dip in to the show on occasions, particularly after December 21st, to see if Mike gets back on track and really does start tracking the truth again, but, otherwise, this show just isn’t worth listening to.

    • Elmo Putz

Don’t you love how if you disagree with Mike you’re being “Combative”?

  • Elmo Putz

“The evolutionary record is now clear that man did not evolve from apes”… yep… He’s Lost It!

  • Bill

Well done to the caller for challenging him in a calm and considerate way, you can see MCR had to shut him down quickly incase the caller encroached anymore on the bizarre belief system he has built up for himself. The is a prime example of someone having their ego destroyed and then building it up again from the bottom using their own creative decisions. Expect his beliefs to get much much weirder as time goes on. Someone needs to help this man right now.

  • Dforce

Poor old mike;I think he’s had a nervous breakdown; He sounds more like David icke every day

  • MRK

Just listen to the encounter with the first caller on this show. Mike accuses him of being combative when he himself is the one being combative. Hear this at 6 20 on the show.

The caller has a point that the majority of the scientific community does not support the Greg Braden theories on evolution as opposed to Darwin etc.

Ruppert basically interrupts him and accuses him of taking over the show. His manners toward the caller are atrocious.

    • Polka Hontas

It’s sad that a guy who used to be able to discern fact from fantasy is
only able to track a bunch of esoteric BS nowadays. Like promoting Gregg
Braden’s new wage fantasies as fact. Here’s one of the finest reviews of Braden I have seen to date:

      http://www.skepticreport.com/sr/?p=174

      Braden
is famous for cherrypicking evidence and misrepresenting quantum
physics to sell his ideas to new wage audiences. Read Amazon’s 1-star
reviews of Braden’s books for some more factual responses to his
nonsense. If the only tool you have left for discerning fact from
fiction is blind belief in emotionally appealing literature, the Braden
is perfect for your subjective reality, however, it will make you a very
      poor “Tracker of Truth.”

  • wireman24

If you guys don’t like what he has to say then don’t listen but do not ruin it for the rest of us.
If all you want to do is sit in the doom and gloom of the world there is plenty of other sources for that.
It’s crazy how fast people turn on a person.

    • Elmo Putz

And if you don’t like what we have to say, then don’t read it.

      • Elmo Putz

Love of my life, don’t leave me
Love of my life don’t desert me
Bring it back; bring it back
Don’t take it away from me because
        .. you don’t know
…. what it means to me.

  • Gallen

I am happy with the new direction MCR had taken. After much consideration, this new path is easier on the soul. How many times do people need to obsess with doom? I do like the way Mike spends the first ten minutes or so with current events, then goes to new areas of thought that will help folks cope with what is very rapidly coming straight at us all. If Mike’s listeners after many years still want to wallow in doom fear based mind control, try Alex Jones.

    • Elmo Putz

“easier on the soul”.. Please explain…

  • Diane

Welcome back, Michael! To hear you talking about world views again, in an even clearer perspective, is like a rejuvenating tonic! Spiritual, yet with feet firmly planted on the ground! Point me to the rabbit hole that you jumped into, and I will take that leap!

  • aeral

Can we please separate Mike’s response to the caller [which was was really out of control] with mike’s message? Look, just because ” mainstream science’ doesn’t support an idea doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I went through dental school and I discovered that the last thing they wanted was for the students to actually read the scientific literature and critically evaluate it. THE LAST THING!! Unfortunately, the PTW don’t encourage our kids to study science, Not only that but quantum physics, which has the answers, is not taught in American schools [to my knowledge]. PLEASE TRY TO EDUCATE YOURSELVES. its not easy but the knowledge is out there. Peace.

    • GluonSniffer

Since you probably aren’t following your own advice to ‘educate yourself’ (as evident in your comment), then I shall help get schooled:
      http://mikecruppert.wordpress.com/

    • Elmo Putz

Nobody teaches quantum physics? Apparently you’ve never heard of M.I.T. (and, no, that doesn’t stand for “Men In Tights”)

  • Gallen

imagine a world where we spoke for a dozen years with 100% accuracy , yet no one believed , then we realized what the truth really is. Then imagine the scorn , it will be large!!!

    • Elmo Putz

You, and I, and the rest of the world have been told the “truth” repeatedly for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy more than a dozen years. For waaaay more than a hundred; or a thousand; or two thousand; or even five thousand. Yet everyone thinks THEY have just now discovered it. Worse than that, they try to paint themselves as some sort of prophet for having spoken it.

You think it’s about OIL? That’s just a minor detail… An insignificant blip in human history.
You think it’s about global hegemony? Heh!! That’s ANY country, anywhere, EVER!
You think it’s about the environment? Hell, give the earth a few million years and it’ll be like we were never even here.
You think it’s about losing our religion? Then define your god and I’ll decide whether or not he’s worth believing in. Just don’t feed me any of this spiritualist crap, until you’re ready to tell me who the hell “SPIRIT” is!
But if you think we’re ever going “back to nature”, then Dream On, Brotha! We love our toys too much!

Ruppert got it right when he said: “For the love of money is the root of all evil”. That is the only reason I ever even came near the man… Because HE is the only person in the public eye whom I have EVER heard speak what I believe to be the ABSOLUTE, TOTALLY SELF-EVIDENT TRUTH about the human condition.

And then he reneged. Poor, stupid fool!

Hell, I never cared that he paraded his dick around in front of his secretary. Anyone with a working pecker has probably done something stupid like that at least once (if not a thousand times). I don’t even care that when he got caught, he tried to avoid prosecution by making the whole thing out to be some big government conspiracy. What I DO care about (and I may be totally alone in this) is that HE would try to save a world that I don’t want saved! And all for the low, low price of just ten dollars a month!

Well, at least we don’t have to worry about that last part anymore..

As to whether or not anything he says is “the truth”, that is entirely irrelevant. Nobody is listening. Not really. To the world at large, he is just another spaced-out talk show host. A MOUTH for hire! Someone who jumps on whatever bandwagon happens to be rolling. I believe the ancient Greek word for that was hypocrite. No doubt, his information is FACTUAL (if not overly sensational). His financial security depends on it. But that doesn’t make him RIGHT!

But, unlike Mike, I don’t fool myself into thinking I was put here by “SPIRIT” to save humanity. I know that nothing I could ever say or do is going to stop the corporations from grinding up this planet and selling it off to the highest bidder. Nor do I believe I could ever stop the semi-literate slaves of the corporate empire from running out into the streets to try and stop it from happening. Nor would I want to help any would-be survivors make it through civilizations fall; lest we, in our infinite wisdom, build the whole goddamned thing right back up again!

No, I WANT to see those crops fail; I WANT to to see those rivers run dry; I WANT to see those bombs go off! Because when I see THAT, I will know that this LIVING HELL we all mire in is FINISHED, ONCE AND FOR ALL!

And, ya know what? The beauty of it all is that whatever comes after us won’t shed one single tear for our departure. Now, that’s what I call a brighter tomorrow!

      TRUTH

To a point MCR is right humans did not evolve “From” apes as such, we evolved along side them, humans are another twig growing off the same branch, much as chimps and gorillas exist today side by side, one did not evolve from the other but evolved parallel, we all to a point share a common ancestor along the common branch but to say humans are one step up from modern apes is wrong. I also have to call MCR wrong on saying or implying that we all appeared at one point in time from some mystical mass growth spurt. Just because we haven’t found the whole geological record yet does not mean we can create a god of gaps to explain things yet to be discovered.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Peteris-Folkmanis/100001427994845 Peteris Folkmanis

I did enjoy this show at large and I wish the very best to you for what you’ve done for us in the past.
As to Esoteric Agenda, Michael Tsarion has little no nothing to do with it. Its author’s name is Ben Stewart and he did this in his early 20s. Having looked into comparative religion, astrology, hermeticism and the occult, I find the film rather accurate. Maybe the yt upload had the wrong title and description, as I’ve already seen sometimes.
I remember somebody advised it to You and confused things also by stating Anima Mundi was mentioned in the film. Maybe it was another movie of the same name, because EA was done back in 2007.
Michael Tsarion is also a student of symbolism and jungian philosophy and there are lots of movies he’s done.
I know You’re not in for an arguement, just wanted to make this small correction.
As to 21th Dec 2012, the date was originally picked by Terence McKenna and the other guy who proposed the Timewave Zero theory.

  • nicefarmer

A far cry from pissing away my talent on a crackpot’s comments section that no one reads, I’m writing a book that will be completed by the end of summer 2013, if not much sooner. It’s gonna be controversial (imagine that!) and will hopefully fly off the fucking shelves—I’m even gonna “Say M[ike's] Fucking Name” at one point in connection with the actually deeply personally useful Collapse, though with a surprisingly gentle disclaimer about his being an otherwise mostly total insert noun. I’ll keep you luminaries posted.

    • Elmo Putz

“A far cry from pissing away my talent on a crackpot’s comments section that no one reads”

Hey, c’mon now… Some of us still enjoy our Saturday morning cartoons. Give us a break! lol

    • Natufian

I’ll never say his fucking name. I’ll continue to refer to him as MCR.

      What’s the book topic?

  • Natufian

MCR woke me from the “American Dream” and for that I am forever thankful. I see the same collapse of civilization that is inevitable and have been preparing myself for about a year now.

However, more recently he has obviously had some sort of mental breakdown and is desperately trying to recover with wishful beliefs in pseudoscience. He’s made it quite obvious that his ego has taken a big hit after losing his place from his now defunct and collapsing CollapseNet and kicked off his permi-home back in Sebastopol. I got banned from that site for not agreeing with the new cult leader (Wes) on certain topics which I have professional expertise as a geologist.

And now MCR is also censoring his followers here too … very sad “collapse” of a great prognosticator.

    • Agape/Amae

You remember Elmo, he was banned from “From the Wilderness”, “collapsenet”,
And MCR’s Facebook page, but is allowed here.
MCR & Collapsenet have evolved, I see Wes as the looser, & pulling the blog down. The wake up for Mike was that Money really did not matter, & that he had none; Wes is still chasing it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ElmoPutz David Foster

I wasn’t banned from FTW… They closed it before I got the chance. :-)

      • Natufian

        I remember you from collapsenet.

What I meant about MCR censoring here is the live radio show callers. He just hangs up on them when they don’t agree and cries troll … just like Wes now does over at collapsenet.

What they don’t seem to realize is that people can have overlapping agreement on some things and not so much on others … but for them it’s — your with them 100% or else you’re against them.

About the only person I’ve seen disagree with MCR and not shut him down and call him a troll is Dmitry Orlov … lol.

        • http://www.facebook.com/ElmoPutz David Foster

Well, they’re all just in it for the attention; even Dmitri Orlov. I have no doubt that the likes of Chris Hedges, Peter Joseph, or Derrick Jensen could also disagree with Mike and not get booted off the show. They have the notoriety Mike craves. But, If any of them were truly intent on changing the world, we’d have heard about their indictments by now.

Everyone wants a hero, so that it’s not them getting shot at or dragged off to prison. These talking heads are just there to capitalize on that need. Unfortunately, for the rest of the world, the need is still there when the show’s over.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ElmoPutz David Foster

He hasn’t censored me here, yet… But only because he can’t. Any censoring has to be done by PRN staff directly. Ruppert has no control.

I’m Elmo, by the way… Pleased to meet ya (if I haven’t already)!
