Educational psychologist Michael Corrigan EdD debunks ADHD and offers solid suggestions on what our children really need in school and at home. We range over many emerging alternatives from “flipping the classroom” to charter schools, and fallacies in testing academic progress.
Today Show: Acupuncture and Health Benefits
Guest Speaker: Jason Elias – Master Acupuncturists http://fiveelementhealing.net/
Jason Elias, has been in private practice since the 1970’s, treating thousands of patients by integrating the modalities of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition. Over a period of forty years, my professional training has included work in the U.S. with acknowledged leaders in the fields of psychology, the Alexander technique, massage therapy, bioenergetic therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and herbal medicine; in Japan with masters of Aikido; in Hong Kong with a prominent Chinese acupuncturist and herbalist; and in India, with an Ayurvedic master. My role in treating my patients has been as a participant in the healing process, helping patients to become whole by reclaiming, reintegrating, and restoring the self. My hope is that as you explore and gain a deeper understanding of Five Element Healing, you may grow in empowerment of body, mind, and spirit so as to help heal yourself.

Annie Jacobsen is an independent journalist and author who writes about war, weapons, U.S. national security, government secrecy and military history. She is a former contributing editor for the Los Angeles Times Magazine and received her education at Princeton University. Her first major book was “Area 51,” an extensive history of the US’s secret military base in the Nevada desert which became a national best seller, was translated into five languages and was scripted into a TV series. This was followed up with “Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America,” voted as one of the best books of 2014 by the Boston Globe. It is perhaps the most thorough study on the subject in print with new information from Annie’s Freedom of Information requests. Her most recent book, just released is “The Pentagon’s Brain: The Uncensored History of DARPA, America’s Top Secret Military Research Agency.” Her website is AnnieJacobson.com
Did you know that October is Kink Month? What better way to acknowledge and celebrate kink than with Dr. Susan Block! She returned to the program with a focus on Bonobo BDSM. Her book is “THE BONOBO WAY – The Evolution of Peace through Pleasure” (www.BonoboWay.com), and there are many comparisons between humans and bonobos. People who practice BDSM tend to prioritize sex – they make time for it, they’re accepting of their sexuality, and they communicate openly with their partner. With bonobos there is a dominant/submissive hierarchy; in managing their aggression, they turn it into sex, keeping the peace. In their matriarchal communities, the females share the rule, brokering peace. In fact, all those interested in human happiness should read this book!
