Leid Stories – D-Day As Democratic Convention Opens; WWBD? – 07.25.16

Well, it’s D-Day—as in opening day of the four-day Democratic Party’s national convention in Philadelpia—and the question is: What Will Bernie Do?

Thousands who’d felt the Bern during the voter-fraud-plagued primaries are descending on the City of Brotherly Love, not feeling too brotherly (or sisterly) toward the ex-presidential contender right now, and downright disgusted with the Democratic Party and its soon-to-be nominee, Hillary Clinton. They hope to persuade Sanders to stay the course with the “revolution” they started together, outside of what they believe is a corrupt party and rigged political process. Dare they keep hope alive?

A Wikileaks dump over the weekend of 20,000 Democratic National Party officials’ emails showed the party’s efforts to sabotage Sanders’ campaign. It caused DNC leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s abrupt resignation and has emboldened Sanderistas in their quest for a WWBD showdown. It won’t be pretty.

In his prime-time speech tonight will Bernie once again tout “party unity,” as he did when he capitulated to Clinton and endorsed her two weeks ago? Will he once again sell the “logic” of coming into the Democratic fold to “expand” the party’s mission and vision? Will he claim that the most important thing to do right now is defeat Donald Trump? Leid Stories says the answer is, yes. And yes. And yes.

Leid Stories – Congresswoman Pushes for Three-Pronged Federal Probe of Clinton Foundation; Bernie Sanders Proudly Capitulates – 07.13.16

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) is calling for a federal investigation into the operations of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation—a “lawless, pay-to-play enterprise that has been operating under a cloak of philanthropy for years,” she alleges in written requests to FBI Director James Comey, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, and Federal Trade Commission chairperson Edith Ramirez. The federal agencies’ “public-corruption” probes should focus on the relationships between big-money donors to the foundation and U.S. foreign-policy decisions made during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, says Blackburn.

Charles Ortel, a former Wall Street investor who exposed General Electric’s multibillion-dollar stock fraud in 2007-2008, since February last year has been examining the Clinton Foundation’s global labyrinth of nonprofit subsidiaries. In an exclusive Leid Stories series, Ortel has charged that the Clinton Foundation is “complete and total fraud.” Ortel discusses Rep. Blackburn’s three-tiered probe request and his most recent forensic findings about the Clinton Foundation.

Well, we saw it coming quite a ways back and you were warned: Bernie Sanders will cave to Hillary and the Democratic Party, trading in the 13 million-plus popular votes he got during the primaries for the illusion of more clout when he goes back to the Senate and within the ranks of the increasingly irrelevant Democratic Party. His full-throated endorsement of Clinton yesterday was a fait accompli.

Leid Stories – For the Clintons, Education Pays, And Pays, And Pays – 07.07.16

Within minutes of FBI Director James Comey’s announcement yesterday that the agency’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s email/private server/classified information debacle found no evidence of criminal conduct, the presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee was back on campaign schedule, keynoting a National Education Association event in Washington, D.C., touting her pro-education policies and tearing into Donald Trump’s education agenda.

Trump University, the real estate mogul’s unaccredited, lawsuit-plagued for-profit education company that went belly up in 2010 after five years, came in for blistering attack by Clinton as a harbinger of what a Trump presidency would mean for education: the ultraprivatization of education, the end of “education as we know it.”

Clinton and her husband Bill have traveled this path and have made millions of dollars from it, says our guest, journalist and author Dady Chery, who has chronicled the Clintons’ sordid history of plunder in Haiti. She adds yet another chapter to the Leid Stories series on the Clinton Foundation and its interconnected global subsidiaries that Charles Ortel, the whistleblower who brought down GE in 2007-2008 over the overvaluation of its stock, maintains are engaged in “massive fraud.”

Chery explains the Clintons’ role in one of the biggest scams in higher education—a Wall Street-backed company called Laureate Education.

Leid Stories – Decoding The – 07.06.16

FBI Director James Comey did his best yesterday to convince the nation that the agency’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s e-mail debacle was thorough, transparent and completely free of political interference and contamination. We can all rest assured that the matter has been looked into exhaustively, everyone potentially in the prosecutorial cross hairs was completely open and cooperative, and as director of the agency he couldn’t be more proud of the job of the way the investigation was handled and, more importantly, brought to a close.

Clinton got a few slaps on the wrist from Comey for mishandling classified information and for inspiring similar recklessness by staff and, generally, throughout the State Department (when she was secretary of state). But there was no evidence of criminal conduct, and no “reasonable” prosecutor would seek indictments, Comey said.

The FBI director might have been hoping to put the whole sordid matter to rest with his explanatory news conference yesterday—just as President Barack Obama and the presumptive nominee were making their first campaign appearance together in Charlotte, N.C. Instead, Comey unleashed a firestorm, directly contradicting several claims Clinton previously had made about her private server and emails.

Leid Stories – ‘Independent’ Sanders Feels the Clinton-Democratic Party Burn – 06.27.16

He continues to make speeches and statements attesting the viability of the “political revolution” he ignited with his presidential bid and vows to bring it to fruition at next month’s nominating convention in Philadelphia (and beyond?), but the Independent senator from Vermont is feeling the Clinton/Democratic Party burn. Big time.

He’s already announced he’ll “vote for Hillary” in November in the interest of “party unity,” but Sanders still has not definitively declared what he will do with the 13-million-plus votes he won—except that “the people” should take things from here.

Leid Stories pointed out early the troubling similarities between Sanders’ and other “progressive” Democrats’ false-flag presidential campaigns that looked and sounded like popular movements but served only to bolster the political fortunes of Democratic Party’s power elite.

Leid Stories – Election 2016: Primaries Deliver A Big Payday for Clinton, An Inevitable Payout for Sanders – 06.08.16

With wins yesterday in four of six states holding primaries—particularly in delegate-rich California and New Jersey—Hillary Clinton, who also carried New Mexico and South Dakota, had a big political payday. She zoomed past the 2,383 delegates needed to be the Democratic Party’s nominee in the general election (now having 2,184 pledged delegates and 571 superdelegates, against Sanders’ 1,804 and 48, respectively). The taste of victory—and history, as a major party’s first female presidential nominee—was sweet.

Which brings us, for the umpteenth time, back to Bernie and what, exactly, he plans to do with his votes and his anti-establishment movement.

Leid Stories discusses the inevitability of Sanders’ capitulation to Clinton and the Democratic Party in the name of “party unity,” and the almost certain death of the “progressive” movement he started.

This Can’t Be Happening – 05.25.16

Greg Haddock, an activist in Germany with the #BernieOrBust movement that is urging Americans to pledge not to vote for Hillary Clinton if she gets, or steals, the Democratic presidential nomination from Bernie Sanders, talks about the campaign and about efforts to pressure Sanders to run in the coming General Election as an independent or as the Green Party’s candidate if he doesn’t get the Democratic Party’s nod.

Leid Stories – What Happened at the Democratic Party’s Convention in Nevada – 05.17.16

The Democratic Party has not yet officially reacted to widespread charges that its chaotic May 14 state convention in Las Vegas was rigged to produce a delegate victory for Hillary Clinton. But the party’s silence is stoking an avalanche of protest, especially among Bernie Sanders supporters, who have ramped up their campaign calling attention to myriad ways in which party bosses have been sabotaging Sanders’ candidacy.
