Warrior Connection – 10.11.15

Warrior Connection covered medical research programs needing vets.

Researcher contacted me and ask that all be notified…..Study out of Texas…..
Purpose
At least 1 in 4 of the 700,000 U.S. Veterans who served in the 1990-1991 Gulf War suffer from Gulf War Illness (GWI). Despite considerable research, effective treatments remain elusive. GWI refers to a complex of symptoms that typically include widespread chronic pain, persistent headache, memory and concentration problems, gastrointestinal difficulties, sleep disturbances and unexplained fatigue.

Warrior Connection – 10.04.15

Warrior Connection had a discussion on adverse health effects of illegal street drugs and alcohol on our body and mind. Specifically on the growing use of mary jane / dope to try and treat ptsd and other neuromuscular afflictions. . These all only complicate life and do nothing to improve quality of life but only numb the senses and have long term health effects. The key is not in drugs or booze but taking control of your life as in attached brochure in concert with wholelistic medical approaches.
PLEASE REMEMBER IF YOU COME UP HOT ON PISS / DRUG TEST YOUR VA AND CIVILIAN PHYSICIAN IS OBLIGATED TO STOP YOUR PRESCRIBED PRESCRIPTIONS AS HE/ SHE SHOULD BECAUSE OF DEADLY INTERACTIONS.

Warrior Connection – 09.20.15

The September 20 Warrior Connection program is dedicated to SSG Paul Lyons, retired , 100% disabled, U.S. Army, 101st Airborne who committed suicide on March 15, 2015. Paul’s birthday would have been September 23. Paul was co-host of this program Warrior Connection and was abandoned by the Army and VA. Paul, even though very ill, kept trying to help all other vets. In Paul’s own words before the crash. Paul’s widow Tammy Lyons joins Major Denise Nichols, RN, USAF retired and I, Major Doug Rokke, Ph.D. U.S. Army, retired, to discuss the horror. Tammy is a U.S. Navy veteran herself. This discussion must not be in vain.

Drones:

The US is using the drones in the context of the so called ‘war on terror’ to change international law. Over the last 150 years, U.S. citizens have written much of the international law that is out there, yet the U.S. generally exempts itself from those laws. Even so, this is a new trick, where by it is noted that the “Common Law” is defined by precedent (you can find this in ICRC documents on international law) and so, the U.S. now contends that if the most powerful nation in the world sets a new precedent, then so be it – that becomes the law.

The use of drones is particularly disturbing because they spy and use lethal force outside of designated war zones. This undermines those boundaries. I used this point in my testimony at one of the trials where I was a defendant. The Hague Conventions of the late 18th and early 19th centuries specifically say that if you have a weapon whose capabilities don’t fall under current international law, you can only use it in ways that abide by current law until the international community can come together and decide how it should be used. These days, the U.N. addresses these issues after the fact and the U.S. ignores the resultant treaties.

In the Hague conventions, they use the phrase “empire of the principles of international law” which can be counter-posed to “the international law of empire”. Nice language. Warrior Connection – 08.23.15

Warrior Connection was a continuing discussion on PTSD and avoiding the hooks.

HOOKS

Substance abuse is a constant danger to those who are living with PTSD.
Because we are always looking for something to help us forget or make us feel better, we become prone to addiction. We can avoid substance abuse if we will make a conscience decision to begin making better choices.
This program will help you to better understand addiction.

“Watch out for the Hooks” is an object lesson designed for youth (6 and older) to help them identify and avoid destructive addictions in America today. I have been demonstrating this unique object lesson (based on fishing) to young people and adults alike for the past twelve years. It has proven to be a great source of information on how to avoid being ensnared by attractive “lures” that will rob them of having a happy and fulfilled life.

This is a “must see” demonstration that will empower young people to detect and avoid the many “lures” that the commercial world will inevitably put in front of them. They will learn through a simple fishing lesson the snares and dangers of playing with “HOOKS.”
This object lesson has been presented to many Church groups, Private and Public school classes, Martial Arts Training Halls and Tournament events, Craven County Detention Center, Pitt County Adult & Juvenile Detention Centers along with Prime For Life substance abuse and prevention classes at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C.

This program of Help and Hope was created to keep our children and young adults clean and free from destructive addictions. Please call for more information or a demonstration.

Warrior Connection – 08.16.15

Warrior Connection continued our discussion on PTSD and ways to resolve it… we discussed the new ptsd brochure developed to provide guidance..and suggestions observations in Ray / LM Clark’s book : “THE NEVERENDING WAR”. WWW.LAURAS-CAKES.COM. Our key points are: to take control of your life, get help, choose good friends, complete school, don’t let the past rule your future, use your knowledge and experience to help others, stay involved in good activities, sit down and relax if a crisis develops. Make the conscious choice not the drink and not to use illegal drugs etc. PTSD might have created a wall but that wall can be breached to allow all to lead a very successful life.

Warrior Connection – 05.24.15

We continue our efforts on education to taking care of our warriors with a discussion with Jim Dolan. Jim is the Executive Director of the Laurus Foundation, an organization to advance the lives of individuals with disabilities and he is the co-founder of The Healer Warrior Initiative. The Healer Warrior Initiative, is a self-healthcare training program teaching Veterans to take better care of themselves, their families, and their fellow Veterans using non-invasive therapies to reduce physical, emotional and mental pain in order to reduce the high number of veteran suicides.

Jim also serves on the board of scientific and professional advisers for The Institute for Traumatic Stress. He is also the co-chair of the Illinois Joining Forces Behavioral Health Working Group’s Complimentary and Alternative Medicine subcommittee.

Warrior Connection – 05.17.15

We continued with our ongoing discussion on ways for solving the ptsd and suicide crises. the following pts brochure (it is attached- please post- distribute) and a focus on a higher calling such as described in “MY QUILT” ” from an unknown author can help. We all need to make the choice to move forward and grow based on the trauma we experienced. As discussed during this weeks program we can all excel and survive but it requires effort, dedication, and acceptance of help.
