Heart of Mind Radio – 12.30.16

On today’s Heart Of Mind Radio, host Kathryn Davis speaks with Maya Jocelyn, founder of Studio Maya, an evolutionary movement studio located in Brooklyn and Mahesh Benyamin Bridges, a community leader and meditation expert about the “Spiritual Unity Movement.”

Maya Jocelyn: Studio Maya, Founder and Teacher

Maya began dancing at age 5 and continued on to complete a BFA in Modern Dance at SUNY Purchase. She went to Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy and became a licensed massage therapist. For 10 years, Maya specialized in chronic pain/injury recovery and in 2006, transitioned her practice to movement specialist. Over the past 10 years, Maya has developed a core strengthening and injury prevention technique called the Maya Method. It is strongly influenced by the Martha Graham Technique, Release Technique, Pilates, Functional Training, Flamenco and the work of Caroline Myss. Maya received her certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Pilates International and Annett Lang (Post-Rehabilitative Training and Pre/Post Natal Training). She opened Studio Maya in 2008 to offer people a safe place to heal and develop their body in a holistic manner with techniques based on science and research.

Mahesh Benyamin Bridges

A community leader and meditation teacher who works in the school system to uplift urban youth. Co-Founder of the NYC Amazing Holistic Health Expo and the “Spiritual Unity Movement”

“The first part of our prayer and meditation is focused on saying the prayer to start things off on a high note. The prayer is generally focused on transforming, changing and healing our community and the world community. Following the prayer the meditation is focused on two parts. The first is to focus on bringing about positive change and up-lift-ment for the people on the call. The second part of the meditation is focused on seeing the healing and transformation of negative things that need to be changed in our community and the world community.”
