Michael Winship – Congress Is a Confederacy of Dunces

Already we’re deep into September and Congress has reconvened in Washington, prompting many commentators to compare its return after summer’s recess to that of fresh-faced students coming back to school, sharpening their pencils, ready to learn, be cooperative and prepared for something new. For this particular Congress to cooperate and do something new would require a miracle on the order …

Paul Street – ISIS is US: the Empire and the Evil Genie It Released

The reigning politics and media culture of the United States is not without moments of high comic relief. Three weeks ago, for example, CNN’s Chris Cuomo presented the buffoonish Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump with a bizarre hypothetical situation. What would Trump do, Cuomo asked, if he met the Pope and the pontiff expressed his opinion that capitalism can be …

Alfred W. McCoy – Grandmaster of the Great Game Obama’s Geopolitical Strategy for Containing China

In ways that have eluded Washington pundits and policymakers, President Barack Obama is deploying a subtle geopolitical strategy that, if successful, might give Washington a fighting chance to extend its global hegemony deep into the twenty-first century. After six years of silent, sometimes secret preparations, the Obama White House has recently unveiled some bold diplomatic initiatives whose sum is nothing …

Energy Stew – We know life is improving in many ways yet we see so many destructive tendencies in our society – 09.11.15

My guest this week is Steve McIntosh, an important evolutionary writer whose new book, “The Presence of the Infinite”, offers new insights to bring more people on board in the quest for Beauty, Truth and Goodness.

He believes we’re all following spiritual paths, even those who don’t believe in spirit. Also science understands there are deeper realities we need to respect. He feels that these on profound levels we can more readily embrace an evolutionary drive in the pursuit of Beauty, Truth and Goodness.

Pope Francis has opened the door for women who have had abortions – an act considered a grave sin by the Catholic church – to be absolved if they express contrition and seek forgiveness from their priest. “The forgiveness of God cannot be denied to one who has repented,” the pontiff wrote in an extraordinary letter that was released by the …

Jeffrey Tayler – In whatever Christian denomination you choose to look at, you’ll find despicable misdeeds left and right

I’ve decided that, at least in the United States, the religiously devout really do have the interests of rationalist nonbelievers at heart, at least as far as providing us with (a sick, unseemly sort of) entertainment goes. They strive ceaselessly and tirelessly, without remiss, on holidays, weekends, and during the work week, to provide us with new episodes of the …

Ronnie Cummins – Regeneration: Global Transformation in Catastrophic Times

Where profits alone count, there can be no thinking about the rhythms of nature, its phases of decay and regeneration, or the complexity of ecosystems which may be gravely upset by human intervention…. It is not enough to balance, in the medium term, the protection of nature with financial gain, or the preservation of the environment with progress. Halfway measures …

Love Lust And Laughter – 08.18.15

Bradley Coates, Esq., (www.CoatesandFrey.com) returned to the program. He is the author of “DIVORCE with DECENCY” – 4TH Edition. To wed or not to wed…the pros and the cons was the focus of the discussion. The best thing about Brad’s book is that its full of straight forward insights about the winds of social change. Sex is the second language of behavior and it’s important to pay attention to its message! We also explored the big question, “Does sex really make you happier?” Tune-in for some answers!
